A modular AI factory is a complete computer center that is built inside large metal boxes at a factory before it is sent to the buyer. The word modular means something is made in separate parts that can be put together easily, like building blocks. A technology company named Nvidia created a new plan for this called DSX POD. This system is made to help companies start using artificial intelligence much faster. Normally, workers have to build a big computer building from nothing, and putting all the wires and pipes together on the ground takes about six months. With this new plan, partner factories put all the computers, wires, and cooling pipes inside the boxes and test them before shipping. Because the hard work happens at the factory, workers at the final location only need about 14 days to connect the boxes and turn them on. The first deliveries of these ready boxes will start in early 2027.
Who Fixes Things When Something Goes Wrong
When you hear about a giant computer center arriving in boxes, it is very normal to wonder who is responsible if a part breaks or leaks water. Please do not worry when you read about big changes in technology, because you can always stay safe by reading service rules carefully and asking clear questions before buying or using any new product. In this new system, there is a big question about warranty and liability. A warranty is a written promise from a company to fix or replace a product if it breaks. Liability means legal responsibility for paying when something goes wrong or causes damage. Because Nvidia only makes the design plan and the computer chips, while partner companies like Dell, Lenovo, or Foxconn actually build and ship the metal boxes, it is not fully clear where one company stops being responsible and the other begins. Usually, the partner company that builds the box handles customer support and repairs, while Nvidia stands behind its own computer parts. However, because water pipes, heavy power cables, and delicate computers are all packed tightly together before shipping, buyers need clear contracts so two companies do not blame each other if a pipe leaks during the trip.

Power and Cooling Readiness and the Vera Rubin Platform
Even though the computer boxes arrive ready to use, the land where they will sit must be prepared early. These boxes use the Vera Rubin platform, which is the newest generation of super fast artificial intelligence computer chips and hardware designed by Nvidia. Because these new chips work so hard, they need a huge amount of electricity and get very hot. They cannot be cooled by normal air fans, so they use liquid cooling, which is a system that pumps cool water through pipes to take heat away from the computers. Before the boxes arrive for their quick setup, local workers still have to build strong concrete floors and bring big electricity lines and water pipes to the land.
The Future of Buying Data Centers Like Regular Products
This new method is important for the future because it changes how the world builds technology. In the past, a data center was a slow construction project where every building looked different. Moving forward, companies will be able to buy a data center the same way a person buys a car or a refrigerator from a catalog. When big computer systems become standard products made on factory lines, businesses all over the world can grow faster, make fewer building mistakes, and bring helpful digital tools to everyday people much sooner.
